4 ½ Stars 2025 John Platter’s South African Wine Guide Supple 22 (94 pts) shows impressive concentration & density on spicy plum palate. Deft balance of muscularity & freshness, 15% bunch fermented/14 months in concrete, rest small & large barrel, 10% new. Unforced & toned, with long finish.94 pts Tim Atkin MW 2024 This is “only” the basic Syrah from Reenen Borman, but it’s still pretty special. Sourced from two parcels, including some grapes that don’t make the cut for Epilogue, it has serious structure and intensity, top notes of ginger, violet and fynbos, bramble and blackberry fruit intensity, subtle wood and a granitic flourish. 2025-3593 pts Winemag.za.co 1/9/25 Winemaking for the 2022 involved 15% whole-bunch fermentation before maturation lasting 14 months in a combination of concrete and barrels, a small portion of which were new. The aromatics are complex with notes of red and black berries, hints of violets and fynbos, smoked meat, earth and spice. The palate is succulent and full of verve – good fruit depth, fresh acidity and powdery tannins. Precise but not too polished.
